Sorry folks, again I have questions regarding seedbox. I plan to purchase VPS Raptor 3 at hosting-ie.

After I apply, how long does it take to set up the server until up and working ?

How do I contact hosting-ie customer service besides from their ICQ ?

The Linux OS offered, e.g Fedora or SUSE, is it with GUI or not ? If it's not can I set KDE or Gnome manually ? And if it's with GUI how do I remote control the server ? Is it using VNC ?
I plan not to choose Windows because I think Linux is more lighter for the overall system.

Even if I choose Windows as the OS, how do I remote control the server besides using the Windows Remote Desktop ? I'm using Mac and I think the matches protocol is using VNC.

Thanks a lot for all your answers

I hear horror stories about hosting-ie vps. Dont go for a unmetered vps in my opinion.
    Guess this country:
-Child porn is legal to possess.
-Home of lolicon & enjo kosai
-Subways are littered with "Warning: Perverts lurking" signs
-Has women only subway cars because of the high sexual assault rates
-Cartoon child porn is a $6 billion industry
-90% of child porn on the internet is from this country
-Ranked equally with Cambodia and Ethiopia for prostitution

i would never pick a vps for torrenting IMO but to each his own, have you considered a dedibox, keyweb or a vectoral ??

    Any how GL.

well, now for a constructive answer:

Linux has no GUI, you dont really need it, just install xterm, vncserver and utorrent and youre good to go. Good call with the Linux part, Windows will suck up resources.

As far as controlling the server via a mac, I use chicken of the sea for VNC, works like a charm, and you can always install webui in utorrent and control it from your browser.

Oh, and customer service leaves a bit to be desired, but if you really need support purchase it. The have a user control panel in which you can send emails to support.

I have the same package as you are thinking about, and for the money, you cant beat it.
    Go Leafs Go.

Thanks for the clear up, but unfortunately I mistaken choosen the Windows OS, is there anyway to change the OS to Linux ?

SaRkAsM, I'm on a low budget arround $30, so I cannot afford for a dedicated server

i've had hosting-ie vps for many months and have had no problems, if you're not sharing the seedbox and have a limited budget then it's worth a punt. It's only a monthly contract so if you don't like then leave. When you sign up you have access to there support ticket system where you can generate new requests. They are not the fastest but they will get back to you in time. To remote control it you can do what ever you want, RDP, install radmin, install vnc, utorrent webui. As puckface said, for value for money it can't be beaten. I've tried the rest on similar budget and i know.

although the installation will use more of the hard drive space unless you are comfortable with Linux , then Windows2003 is far easier for you to use fstokebanget so in terms of convenience w2003 is the better choice, most of the layout is very similar to WinXP. All you need to do with a Windows 2003 server is install utorrent and an ftp server, if it is just going to be you there is an ftp server already built in in IIS you just need to enable it, or use a third party ftp server.
