Thread: Dc++ ?!

  1. #1
    Hey folks, heard a lot about CD++ already,
    but what is it really and what makes it "superior" to other FS systems?

    And, what about hte content, is it comparable to the variety what BT offers?

    Thx for answers,
    dahlai

    Hm, I used DC++ around 5 years ago... For a few months, than I discovered BitTorrent and OiNK... I would never go back... DC comes from direct connection. The places where people meet and share are hubs and DC++ is the program you use to connect to the hubs and then to users in order to download... If you really want to try DC, then use StrongDC, is better. I don't like it so much because you can search only on the hubs you are connected in that moment, and from my experience, the files hosted there are old, very old...doesn't compare with scene releases from BT. I kinda think about the DC++ users like users which aren't so experienced, and that's their only way of getting stuff from the internet...

    You can get great stuff from DC++ if you know what you're doing, but you can't get into the good hubs without a lot to share. If you have between over 400GB, check out the top hubs. You can find a lot of rare movies, good software packs, etc., and the speed is great. Still nothing compared to BT, but it'll be around after BT is gone.

    thx, that was exactly what I wanted to know.

    Even if I had so much to share, my internet connection is definetely way to slow for uploading so much

    It's not like BT in that way. The program hashes your share and you act like a server, then people just download from you after searching your files. You can limit your upload speed/slots to whatever your bandwidth can handle comfortably.

    I miss Paradise :S. Pre-times as short as the private BT trackers and an excellent variety and speed! Unfortunately it's owner and the uploaders from the scene was exposed so they shut it down.
