This one's to do with a land-line phone I bought yesterday.

So, I got a Uniden DECT cordless phone base, plus one extra phone so that I would have one in my bedroom. Now, for some reason, when I pick up the phone to get the dialing tone, there is a crackling noise which lasts throughout the use of the phone for calls and whatever. Yet, when I lift up the cord phone (which I still have connected to the line), it doesn't have this noise. Let me note that the crackling noise is on BOTH cordless phones, and not just the one.

Any idea what it might be?

    Thanks.

    Clearly, something is causing interference.
Could be another wireless device, could be dirty power to wireless basestation or it could be the Mossad listening devices.

Have you got the corded phone and cordless plugged into the same socket via a splitter or do you have 2 sockets if so plug the cordless base into the other socket where you presently have the corded one.

All spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in my post's are intentional.

Why waste your time troubleshooting a new phone with what sounds like an obvious defect?

If it's new, use that warranty and return it to the store for exchange.

I don't think that it is a defect. But, I would return it and get a differnt brand.

Aint a defect as both cordless ones have it for some reason.. seems to have calmed down a bit.. still a little hissing in the background.. Possibly the Mossad Still, maybe it's the fact it's near various electrical devices..?

Move the basestation away from your electric chair and flux capacitor.

Sounds like you need a phone splitter. Your ISP might give you a few for free, like mine did, if you ask them.

Everyone could use one of those.
