I can download like fuck using Usenet. Never seems to be a problem. However if I download at high speeds using BT it fucks my modem. Allen gave me some advice earlier re uTorrent doing that.

I am currently playing with the settings to see if I can get the cunt to stop breaking my PC, however I would also like some advice on the best alternative. What BT Client should I be using.

I have no interest in cheating ratios or anything like that, I'm perfectly happy to upload more than I download.

    Thanks for any help.

It happened to me a lot.

It seemed that the modem got bottlenecked at certain times of the day.

In the morning, I'd be getting like 400kbs down regular. Which is spunkable for me. But in the evening, I'd be getting 20kbs which sucks testicles.

You BT modem gets zapped to fuck at high usage points in the day. So you may be paying for 8 megs or whaterfer, but at certain times of the day, you're getting fuck all like that.

Kill your neighbours seems like the only practical solution.

never had any problems with it though, but i live in the middle of fucking nowhere and my neighbours are frail and smelly. also i recently plugged said modem into a linksys wireless bb router and still its fine. i use ktorrent, though it works just as well in windows with any client of the windows variety

I've cut the global connections etc way down. It's now downloading a lot slower, about 300kB/s but hopefully the modem will be able to cope.

Like I said, with Usenet it can be 4 times that and it doesn't cause a problem.
