I agree with the masses NOD32 hands down.Light on resources and does it's job well while staying out of the way.

I'm on the fence as like both Nod and Kav , two of the best and anyone with a bit of time can find cracks or keys for either . I prefer an AIO program for security ,just think they work so well if sharing files .
Kaspersky has a higher learning curve but well worth it if you config right . Eset better out of the box and very P2P friendly so its a trade off .

I'm using Eset Smart Security for my antivirus/antispyware/firewall and I've never been happier with my protection. Small memory footprint and no viruses or spyware to speak of. Eset Smart Security is the new cousin of Nod32 by the way.
I would say KAV because I had Nod once and I have to say that for sure he was very fast but although he found many viruses he couldn't delete some of them and also after making an on-line scan with Kaspersky it found 2 other viruses that Nod didn't so....up for the KAV!
Nod32 is the best for now
I would use KAV or NOD32. Using NOD32 at the moment because it's unintrusive and gets the job done.
Best:
Kaspersky Internet Secutiry 7
Kaspersky Anti Virus + Outpost Firewall
NOD32 + Outpost Firewall
ESET
