    Staring at the direction the bus is coming from,

    does it in any way improve the situation of standing at a bus stop and waiting for the bus? (aka speed up)

    it is a weird human habit.

    my calculations
    1.humans tend to want to look forward - future, yet they are in fact looking at the past. (they want to go the other direction)

    2.Even if morphic resonance is real, it is dependent on that many people do the same action, yet since people at different bus stops are all directed different angels, this only makes time for bus to arrive worse.

    3. Since everyone is doing it, why do you bother, their body movement will indicate it is coming

    4.This situation is fucked, stare at a car commercial instead.

    5.i don't get it

    I think it's an easy way for to avoid eye contact with strangers for some.
    The rest probably do it because they see others doing it.
    Humans = Sheep.
    Now go away.

    Cause most bus drivers are crazy and you have to watch or they might run you over

    It contains both hope and hopelessness.

    I think is because we are anxious, and when we see the bus coming we get a "yaay here it comes!" feeling.

    I don't think there're any in-depth psychological reasons why people generally look in the direction they expect their bus is travelling from .
    Not all buses services instruct drivers to automatically stop at every Bus Stop . If you don't notice the oncoming bus & then fail to signal to the driver , it won't stop . Feck, you've missed it .
    You can't always rely on the other people in the queue, because they may not want the same bus as you (or be like the old guy in this picture, who's mind is plainly elsewhere) . There's no psycho-waffle-bollx involved, just people who want to get where they're going & are acting in a manner that will enable them to do so .
