2050 - Gold prices skyrocket to a new high. $4,700 an ounce.

2065 - China invades Rhode Island.

2081 - Sightings of immense robot war machines in Japan brings great concern to the United Nations.

2017 - Scientists involved in the developement of GM food crops are getting some strange readings from the plants, indications are that vegetables may have basic feelings .

2019 - Scientists have developed a device that enables direct communication with the GM crops . The veggies drop the bombshell .... all plantlife has a high level of intelligence, and they're none to happy about being used as fodder for humans . Government clampdown on the project, for fear of the obvious controversy this would cause .

2020 - Mayhem, the secret is leaked . Mass suicides of Vegetarians & Vegans, who can't handle the guilt of the suffering they inflicted on those poor plants . Religions are in turmoil over the moral implications, such as ... does an Apple have soul? ... can a Carrot sin? Thankfully most humans are insensitive to the suffering of others & food consumption pretty much continues as before . There's a shortlived craze for keeping plants as pets, but due to their innate inactivity, it's doomed . Once the novelty has worn off, owners often end up eating dear old Colin the Cauliflower in a creamy cheese sauce, which is nice.

2025 - It's revealed that Michael Jackson is in fact an alien (most people have no trouble accepting this news) from the planet Paed , sent to Earth as an embassador of good will . His mission is deemed a failure & he's recalled to Paed . As punishment for his abysmal behaviour on Earth, he's forced to spend the rest of his life sat in the corner of a round room, with a Dunce hat on, listening to non-stop church organ music .
