    Raptor 5, cheapest 1GB RAM option there is, if you can afford it.

    And go with a nix box if you feel really confident of doing so, plenty of help round here to get you going and keep you going

    Definitely if you are using windows. Seedboxes usually are downloading faster then the hard drive can write, so the ram is buffering the data.

    Right now sgt. and I both have nix boxes with 256 ram that are kicking some major arse!

    Windows with web 2003: 1GB of ram
    Can do with 512, but it wont be fun

    Nix boxes, optimally 512 or more...but mine is running plenty decent with 256mb.

    nix = unix

    remember the vps take about a week to 2 weeks to setup, so dont be impatient after you order it. They dont bill you for time you dont have it, so thats the good part.

    Vectoral, leasweb and most other companies bill you month at a time and will bill you from the date you order it, not the date you receive log in details. Thats why they have set up within 48hours.

    Also, hosting ie req. a 3 month minimum contract, but you can opt out of it for an extra $10 a month or so.

    nix = unix,

    Centos, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, Gentoo etc are all classed under one umbrella of the nix box.

    Way less resource hungry than windows, and therefore ultimately faster for a seedbox as less things to get in the way of utorrent doing its work.

    A nix box sounds like the way to go, but I don't have any unix experience so I should probably get a windows box, right?

    Neither did the 2 people above you 4 days ago, now we are giving advice

    It's costs - you need 1GB of RAM to run a windows seedbox, and then it still falls over & is slow, 2GB RAM is nice.

    512MB RAM will run a nix box all day and at full speed, read the OVH & Fedora thread, a couple of others are chipping with their experiences & speeds, the latest is downing at 10MB/S.

    It's your money though, you pays your $ and makes your choice, whatever makes you feel comfortable & happy is best for you, now what others tell you to do, you can only be given advice, you don't have to take it & act on it.
