"You will not get it, be active first."
I have, in fact. And I even anticipated you to be the first to reply to this thread, as well as the contents of your message. Any chances you could elaborate how you perceive 'being active' as indicative of a person's merit?
My response to you will necessarily be along the lines of what
kareemgona had already stated in the other thread. If by being active you mean joining the crowd of lemmings that create a deluge of pointless and redundant posts, contributing absolutely nothing to this forum, then I see my modest post count as a badge of merit. *1
Moreover, I neither think that users should be judged based on their 'reputation' mark, as it is too often a result of countless give-aways to sites that people are joining for the sole purpose of extracting trade invites. And that, in my opinion, runs contrary to the idea behind file-sharing. *2
To me, joining any torrent site is a commitment that should be made reluctantly. Maintaining a decent ratio whilst being necessary to keep file-sharing communities going and ensuing high transfer speeds, does take a lot of effort and I find having dozens of rarely-used accounts simply ludicrous.
I believe that this forums serves one good purpose, and that is bringing torrent communities closer and allowing existing users to find like-minded people who would be an asset to their site's userbase. That cannot however be based on frequently misleading post count or reputation alone.
In any case, thanks for the reply!
