I am not mad since I have been waiting for one to loose out to the other before I put money down towards either platform.

But what I would like to see is a DVD/HD-DVD+Blue ray player burner for pc's to come out once the prices go down as it would be of great use for a MCE pc build. There are dual stand alone players that already do this so I am hoping that this comes over to the pc side.

Since I think this would drive down the blank media cost and make it an affordable backup solution a lot quicker.

    Well, since I own a PS3 I don't mind at all
This is just like that drug trip I saw in that movie while I was on that drug trip.

    Glad I bought my PS3.

I'd hate to be one of the poor bastards who bought the HDDVD add-on for the Xbox 360.

I'm just glad someone finally won. Now hopefully the Blu-Ray players will get more mass produced and come down in price.

    Why would I be mad?

I did buy the 360 add-on and a stand-alone player. I was able to send the stand-alone back to Amazon and I still have a ton of free HD-DVDs for the 360 add-on.

I have never bought one HD-DVD movie.

Who knows? I might buy some of the movies once they hit rock-bottom.

HD PQ is still HD PQ.

Right now I have a ton of Blu-Rays as well. I either got those free or at rock-bottom prices.

I got 8 movies from Amazon for about $7.15 a piece and 6 from TRU for a about $20 (Disney movies: POTC and others).

If HD-DVD players hit rock-bottom, I could see getting a one since they are decent upconverting DVD players. I'd like to see one with a USB port though.

I don't see how anyone is still buying DVDs anymore.

Rip 'em and burn 'em but hell no, don't buy 'em.

DVDs are more dead to me than HD-DVDs (for purchases).

I don't like either format. DVD still rules my home theater!

    HD-DVD does 1080p as well.

I picked up a HD-DVD player a while back. I'm not pissed, it just gives me an excuse to throw more money at electronics, aka PS3. I'll just have to figure out how to rip the old HD-DVDs and put them on my media server so I don't have to keep the player clunking around.

I'm glad that the format wars are over, and I think Blu ray was the better format anyway (10GB extra for single layer is no small thing). I do feel sorry for those who already bought HD-DVD players and got a big collection.

Now hopefully the prices will come down and BD-writers and discs become more common. I'm not too keen on watching movies and I'm looking forward to being able to backup 25GB of data on one disc.
