I have some stuff to enter into a Excel spreadsheet that consists of two numbers separated by a dash. Excel keeps interpreting it as a date and changing it into a different format. How can I make it input my data correctly?
Plan for the worst, hope for the best

You neeed to format the cells correctly. ..
By default, the 'General' format will convert such strings to a date.

Just right click a cell (a column, or just the entire table...) and choose 'Format Cells...'. Once you are in, just choose 'Text' from the Category list.

    Best of luck!
