Windows 2000 Or Xp

I have XP rite now and my comp is shitty, as u all know. do you think it would run better if i installed windows 2000 on it, and formatted my harddrive to NTFS?

That would depend.... In what way is your computer running poorly? What's the specs of your system? Have you updated all your drivers - directx - windows update?

I'm really happy with XP Pro now. Couldn't fault it.

i have a PIII 850 MHz, 128mb SDRAM, 30gigs, 11 meg video card, and it runs fairly slow with xp. all i'm really asking is if, without all the flashy colors of xp, would windows 2000 have the same durability and security of windows xp?

There's an easy way to find out.

System Properties > Advanced > Visual Effects > Adjust for best performance

This will give you a '98 desktop, without XP's whistles and bells.

Windows 2000 is as durable and as secure as XP, and uses less resources, but i'd probably advise you to spend a little money on upgrading. Another sdram stick and a geforce two would probably only cost you £40 these days.

"11 meg video card" ?

But, anyway, yeah... Win2k will run better on your system. The security options are very similar, too.
