With the Jackie Chan/Jet Li movie "The Forbidden Kingdom" opening this month,It got me thinking about fight scenes.
So I was wondering what people thought was the greatest fight scene ever filmed?
It could be something short and brutal like Bourne or grand and intricate like Police Story.

The best fighting scenes I recently watched were in The Bourne Ultimatum. Great fighting was in Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon. Aside from that I'm not a big fan of brawl films.

I'm watching Ong-Bak at the moment and it's got a lot of cool fight scenes. The main guy's just smashed open another guy's bike helmet with his knee. While he was wearing it obviously

Edit: forget that, now he's just put his elbow straight through someone's skull

If a movie is just about fighting ,the fights become boring.
Like any movie scene they need context and motivation to be memorable.

I did like the fight in Serenity for it's elegance .Summer Glau is a trained dancer and it showed.

'nuff said. It's the longest fight scene in cinema without the camera changing scenes/cutting. Its a steady shot from start to finish as the main guy kicks more ass than I've seen on 5 separate floors (the camera follows him as he fights).

I wonder what happened when a person messed up, redoing all that would be tiresome!

Jeff Loomis: He's so good, he doesn't need to be dead to have a tribute.

I read that a couple of the stunt men were actually hurt and they just kept rolling.Heartless bastards.
But like you said if they had to keep reshooting that scene by the end of the day nobody would have had a leg to stand on.

    Not one shot but impressive.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65IS3Rx-p3o
