    The one thing i find sad about pratchet is that he never applied his "game" on todays society and instead chose to do it indirectly behind the shield of the genre of "wizardry"

    and hence got anally fucked by hogwarths.

    if only he could have played his words more directly on todays life.

    Aren't there any young writers, who speak todays language with his humor.

    I would go for Bill Bryson, absolutely genious that man!

    Try Tom Sharpe, he's really funny and reminds me of Pratchett a wee bit. If you're looking for some dark freaky stuff, give Patrick McGrath's 'Spider' a go. Fucking weirdest book I've ever read in my life, but very very good.

    And JP, if you could send the Pratchett thing, I would be eternally greatful.

    That one worked especially well for me 'cos of what and who I'm working with, though. The epilogue was far too familiar

    Robert Rankin is good fun if a bit off the wall - books like Armageddon the B Movie are worth a look.
