    Obviously life is full of grey areas if one is looking at things objectively. However, if one becomes say a Baptist the other members might look askance if you say "obviously I don't believe in a literal God" That point is non-negotiable as far as they are concerned. In some churches Noah's Ark, talking snakes and fruit that confers knowledge of good and evil are also non-negotiable. However there is always the CofE bless
    Obviously anything which is an item of dogma within a specific religion is by definition non-negotiable. However there are also areas of theological uncertainty. These areas however cannot by definition parts of the central beliefs of that religion, that just wouldn't make sense.

    Me for example, I'm not particularly concerned about much of the Old Testament. I'm more interested in the New Testament and in particular the teachings of Christ. To me that's what being a Christian means.
