She has an interview for a portfolio year prior to going on to Art College and a letter from the school saying she skipped half her Philosophy classes - I am torn between congratulations and grounding her until she is 33

Think of it as "she WENT to half of her philosophy classes". That would be the philosophical approach.

Her work is not only technically good, it also shows an understanding for the material she is depicting and makes one have a sense of being there. There is great emotion in that piece. I really do love it.
