Someone asked me today, if I could do something really cool like go into space or scale Everest, but I couldn't tell anyone about it, would I still want to do it?

    I'm not sure ....would you?

Of course. It's the thrill and experience that's the reason to do it; not the potential kudos you'll receive later.

It would be impossible for you to achieve these things without support. So simply, you wouldn't be able to, whether you wanted to do it or not. So the question is irrelevant.

It's not just a matter of kudos though, it's also about the natural urge to share your life with others. It's what humans do. Mind you, I often go on hikes on my own and don't take pictures or talk about it to anyone so I suppose that fucks my point a bit .

I do it. Just cause its another part of my life my wife wont know about

I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it. (Terry Prattchet)
