    I'm just curious if there is any free newsgroups out there with decent content. Or are those all pay for, like GigaNews, etc?

    There are, but depends on what you call decent. Used to use the test server at news-service until it stopped at the end of March - upto 160 day retention and maxed out my 8Mb. You just won't get people telling you where they are. The freebin ones are okay for posts upto about a month.

    Just get a 2GB block account at usenet-news. It's only $2 and never expires. You can post an unlimited amount.

    AT&T ISP newsgroups are pretty good. They've gotten a lot better in the past year.
