Ok.. what I have.

1) 120 GB Harddrive
2) 128 MB nVidia GeForce 4.
3) 48X Masui CD Burner.
4) Sound Card

I want to continue to use these parts as they are all brand new and need not be replaced.

Which leaves me looking for a barebones kit that includes...

1) Motherboard + CPU (Preferably an AMD Athlon XP) that includes usb 2.0.
2) A great cooling system, preferably not water.
3) 512MB - 1024MB Ram to accompany the Motherboard/CPU.

This is pretty much a barebones system, but I dont really know where to look. A lot of sites advertise this at good prices, but they look as if they are run out of some college kid's basement. I want to get this barebones kit from a reliable store. I want to be able to just pop in the parts that I have, start it up with a Win XP cd rom in, install and run it. I want an easy solution.

My price limit - 250, maybe 300.

This will be my last post concerning my computer's future, as I have bugged you guys enough. So if any of you would be kind enough to provide a link to a store that sells what Im looking for at a reasonable price with a good warranty, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance -

just drop into www.pricewatch.com and pick up say:

a MSI K7N2 Delta-L (nForce2 Ultra 400) about 90$
a Athlon XP 2500+ (1.83 GHz) Barton OEM at about 90$
a stick of 512-MB PC2700 DDR for about 60$

and if you need a case, that still leaves $$ for that. and that nforce mobo comes with 6 channel audio, a very nice built in sound card, integrated lan/nic card, ata 133, agp8x also.

For another 30$ you could get a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe nForce2 Motherboard... keep that in mind.

that processor is a steal, as many report it clocking upwards of 2.8-3.0 gigahertz.

Most sites on pricewatch, though each differ warranty wise, offer some warranty, for 30-90 days, and after that, the manufacturer warranty kicks in. Just be sure to check each place you buy from. But those parts should all be available for close to those prices.

well u can search for mobo combos with the cpu name, and mobo name, to get those together... thats common.

but getting those two, and a case, and ram, all together, specifically like that, would be a bit harder, w/o lookin online store, to online store.

those parts arent hard to put together. mobo just bolts into the case, put the processor onto the socket a slot, with some thermal paste, and just slide in the ram... run your power connectors to the mobo, theres your parts all together... then just plug your stuff in...

buying a barebones kit is ruining the fun you could be having building the machine yourself.

i went into my local pc store Richways and i was like a kid in a candy store! if it scares you the fort of building your own al you have to do is start with the cpu and work from ther.

only having brought a case so far i can safely say im having no troubles so far
