lol did i see the word "warner" in there. ummm, i don't know if it's unlawful to d/l tv shows and other things like cartoons considering the fact the vcr is 20 something years old and somewhat obsolete but can easily be used to record a program. i would say no, but just to be sure, ask the riaa anyways kidding of course as far as downloading cartoon movies...if they appeared on the big screen then no, on tv, meh knock yourself out

    Yes it is.

Anything that has been televised or shown in a theater is either trademarked and/or copyrighted. Length of a video/film has nothing to do with it.

Recording using a VCR is covered under "fair use." This allows for personal use only. Technically, sharing that video and/or copying would also be illegal.

In the past, Yes! Nothing to do with RIAA though.

I know someone who's received a CEASE and DESIST letter from MPAA for sharing tv shows (Stargate SG-1 I believe...)

Had he not quit, they might have sued him... and probably won.

Sharing tv shows which have been broadcast is illegal, but it really shouldn't be.

speaking of which, would TV shows recorded using a TV tuner card onto your computer be covered under the "fair use"?
