Thanks for the info. Good guide
it's very helpful though i've known that .
Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. Usually, it just makes it bigger.
awesome guide!
would you guys suggest using peerblock or pg2? Maybe I skimmed over and missed it, but I don't think those programs have been mentioned in this thread.
personally, I know it may not help A LOT, but I always keep peer block running. I monitor the blocks it does as they occur, leaving utorrent on one monitor and peerblock displayed in the forefront on my 2nd monitor. if it doesn't help to keep you anonymous, it is at least helpful to see when big name companies and AntiP2P ip's are trying to connect to you.
Those aren't 100% safe, but it's better than nothing, and do shield you from some bad IPs. Personally, I use uTorrent's IPFilter capabilities instead of global (i.e. PeerGuardian, PeerBlock) blocking.

Thanks for the great tutorial...any suggestions for Mac users? I use transmission for my client any other suggestions or tips to move me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

NO 'blocking' software will protect you from a third party retrieving the cloud list OF WHICH YOU ARE PART from the tracker. They need not connect to you.
Stop the delusion.
