    Hey,
    I'm using kazaa lite k++ 2.4.3
    I didn't use kazaa for a couple months & now it refuses to get connected.
    I tried changing the ports & used again the snode.reg file but it didn't help.
    It still saying connecting....

    I believe the network is dead.
    I can't get klite, dr.damn's imesh, mammoth, or kceasy to connect anymore.
    I could connect to some fake supernodes located at:
    83.142.224.0 - 83.142.231.255 and 83.245.14.0 - 83.245.15.255
    that allow you to connect but it shows 0 users online.
    Blocking those ranges with a firewall leaves no other working supernodes connectable.

    How did this one P2P researcher say in his talk? Once Kazaa would shut down their servers, the network would split more and more, and only some weeks after the only thing left would be little islands of users isolated from the rest. I don't know too much about FastTrack, but it has poor discovery and whether the Peers are hosted by servers or not, who knows. This only theoretically.

    I would not recommend to use Kazaa other than for experimental use. The network was nice when we all had 56k modems and such, and when there still was an active community using it. In means of this, it already died some time ago. As it wasn't developed for a decade, it can't support PCs behind routers, it doesn't make use of the better internet connectivity that we have today, the search is also old-fashioned and so on.

    But anyway, I was able to get a connection to 7,473 users. I don't know if this is the whole FastTrack left or some island, but you can search in it and the network seems to be alive. An interesting thing is the rise of brasilian users, they have many active SuperNodes using a client called "Nitro K-Lite" which seams to really get used by them today.

    So I uploaded the KZN file containing some SuperNodes, you should see it as list.kzn in this directory - import this into your KaZuperNodes, check them and perhaps try to set and restart Kazaa with one of those SNs.

    My KaZuperNodes didn't really work, I guess because of Windows XP Sp2 Event Patch. I don't really know if this also affected the Kazaa Client, it didn't connect which also isn't unusual as it is usually pretty slow. So, if you didn't patch the half-opened connections already, and Kazaa refuses to connect even when using the new KZN file, this could also help. After patching I was able to use KZN and also got connection with help of it (setting a SN and restarting Client). The second time I was also using "Kazaa Lite Tools K++", but I think it has nothing to do with that - i should be more consistent when experimenting ;-)

    yeah i've been connecting to islands with 500-1000 users, once enough islands find each other it should get back to at least 100,000 users, unless the fake nodes eventually turn them off, we will have to wait and see.

    UPDATE: up to 80,000 users
