Well most 720p are DVD5 size and most 1080p are DVD9 size, thats for encodes.
Captures are varying, but usually bigger, HDDVD rips are usually 20 - 25GB and blu ray rips can be between 20 - 25GB or 40 - 45GB. Keep in mind this is for movies.

Alright, well, I record with an HD TV tuner, I edit the commercials out in VideoReDo, and then I downsize it with Handbrake. So technically after I edit out the commercials I would just want to upload that?
I never encoded any HD in my life but yeah you would do that, so I guess that would be a capture, and then people download it and some guy will encode it into 720p and 1080p that fit on DVD5 and DVD9 respectively.
At least that's what I've observed
