Thread: Will The Cd Format Die?

  1. #1
    Hi Everyone!

Some people think that within just a few years time, CDs will disappear totally from the market. Instead, mp3 files, or some other fully-digital format (i.e. no physical dimension) will take over.

What are your thoughts on this? Won't we miss having the physical items in our hands?

    Just kidding.....

There will always be the need for some type of media, so that we can transport the music with us wherever we go - in the car, to the beach, on a plane, etc. Plus, yes, people want to hold what they own.

Hell, music is still being put out on Vinyl (although I prefer a good ole' 8-Track).

The media may change, but it will always exist in some form.

    Tchau!

I don't think the CD will die, but a newer, better version of the CD will come out. Almost like the new Blue-Laser DVDs... (it's not popular) There already is a better version of the CD out there, which requires a special player to play it. They are very hard to find, there are almost NO cds made in that format, not to mention players that can play that CD. It probably won't be for a while until there is a new format.

One word a new disc, maybe it will be called "DAD" for Digital Audio Disc, a dvd disc but for audio, and with a capacity of atleast 5gb, or maybe we'll just populize the dvd audio disc thing. If you ask me we now already store files and have audio dvds, but dvd means digital video disc, which is for video, but it can be used for audio and too like a Compact Disc, so we should call it HCD (High capacity disc)
    Ohh noo!!! I make dribbles!!!
