    Everything was just fine.

They've recently changed things a wee bit here, you only get one scan around 16 weeks and that's it.

Mr Skweeky and I were considering a 3D scan to find out the sex, but we've changed our minds and are just going to wait and see.

@JP: My moses basket is green and white

I'm guessing they don't cost a lot at first Skweeks? If you breastfeed I guess all you have to buy is a basket/cot and maybe a sling, and some clothes? Or am I being naive .

    You have no idea...

moses basket or crib at first, unless you want to sleep with them in your bed (not advised when we were having ours, but that may have changed now); cot or cotbed later.

    car seat
"Travel system" (or "pram" in old money)
    small plastic bath thing
    towels
    baby-gros
    vests
    change mat
    nappies
    nappies
    NAPPIES!

...and those are just the essentials...

    That's just weird.

@Skweeks - What's a 3-D ultrasound? Don't think I've heard of those before. Didn't you just get done that procedure where they put that jelly-like stuff on your tummy, and go over it with some uber-l33t shaving-like machine, only that it isn't meant for shaving??

    Outta here!

I don't have a car so wouldn't need a car seat, don't need a pram because you can just buy a sling, would use towelling nappies not disposables, wash the baby in the sink so no bath, you can use your own towels, changing mat? What's wrong with the kitchen floor? Clothes I will accept .

I reckon I can run a baby much cheaper than yous.

Studies have been done that say the cost of repeatedly having to wash towelling nappies can be more than the cost of buying disposable ones.

It depends how often you need to change the nappy I guess. On average it's supposed to be about 6 times a day, but I've got to be honest, sometimes we only did it half that much...

Also remember to factor in the cost of needing a chiropractor if you're going to be carrying it round in a sling/ bending down on the floor to change nappies, etc.

Don't have a car? What is this, the dark ages

I doubt a bit of bending down and baby carrying is going to hurt anyone. There are women in developing countries who work all day in paddy fields with babies strapped to their backs without complaint. We're too soft, that's the trouble.

I can drive, but never felt the need to buy a car. I think most people buy them and then find a use for them.
