How you suppose to get rid of WMP9? That player is draining too much of my cpu, I'm pretty sure all of it's features are in 7.1 like the WOW crap and that thing where you choose like rock and dance and like classical that thing.....

Anyways, can anyone tell me what files to delete and what registry things to delete
    Ohh noo!!! I make dribbles!!!

I think that by going to "Add or Remove Programs" and then selecting "Add/Remove Windows Components" there is an option to remove Windows Media Player 9 Series.

Nope, don't think so. I think you're stuck with it till you reinstall if you have 98/me/win2k.
And XP I dunno, is it WMP8 that's built in? you're stuck with that too.

I don't think you can completely remove WMP9. Just stop using it, and get a better player like ZoomPlayer.

If you go to TweakXP and hunt around you can find several ways to disable/remove some of WMP's more obnoxious features, but Balamm is correct- I don't think you can eradicate it completely.
Apparently the MediaPlayer is a core component of MS's plan to rule the world.

    Go figure.

The truth is, you CAN'T uninstall WMP9. Once you install it, your stuck with it. Even if you create a restore point before installing it, the RP don't remove all the files that were put onto the computer with the installer.

I just noticed your post that your using Win2000
Users running Windows 98 SE or Windows 2000 can easily uninstall the media player using the operating systems' "Add or Remove Programs" feature, a typical means of getting rid of unwanted software. This option is not available on Windows Me or XP because of the media player's deep integration into the operating systems.
