    the reason i think that i might not need one is because i've used just regular power surge things 4 like 3 years now. and my comp has been fine all that time. and btw: where can i find a really cheap ups? i might buy a ups 4 my new computer.

    Dunno where you are but in Canada they have fallen below $100 for up to 20 minutes reserve.

    and if ur battery works 4 20 minutes, how do u know u got a power surge or outage. does your computer tell you to shut down asap to prevent damage?
