well its got something to do with harddrive partitioning.but the truth is im too sleepy to be safely computing and as a result I dont know what im doing.

maybe if the other partition is a completely foreign operating/file system which your main system doesn&#39;t recognize, you&#39;d have less of a risk. i.e. a linux partition might be less vulnerable to a virus that&#39;s infecting your Windows partition. or a linux virus might have difficulty accessing a Windows NTFS partition because linux doesn&#39;t support NTFS access (usually not officially, anyway). but that&#39;s still a pretty big "maybe."

in plain terms, if your operating system can access a partition, an active virus probably can too. and any partition that your system can access is a place where a virus can begin infecting it.

what if the person is running 2 hard drives, one as a slave, and a master. Could the virus get to your other drive then? I&#39;ve heard that only a well put out virus could do that.

A virus can easily infect the partition on which Windows runs. No matter if you run the virus from a different partition or disk.

If you can run the virus, then it can infect your computer.

If you get a virus, you must quickly reformat. What you should do (while you still can) is transfer your important files onto CD&#39;s. Just make sure that you are only transferring NON executables...
