Thread: Using Proxies With Kazaa (kl++)

  1. #1
If you are worried about someone extracting your IP while using KaZaa (KL++).
If you are using other less populated p2p's due to security.
If you have stopped sharing because you are spOOked.

Then perhaps you should use the built in Proxy feature of KaZaa (KL++)...

First go to "Options", then "Kazaa Lite K++ Options",
Then click the tab "Firewall" in there...
    Check "Use SOCKS5 Proxy Server".

Enter the IP of the Proxy in the "Host" field, this is the number before the ":" in the list below.
Then enter the port in the "Port" field, this is the number followed the ":" in the list below.

Now click "Apply" and then "Ok". If you show connected in the bottom right corner within a few seconds then all is well, if not try adifferent proxy in the list. I make no gaurantees regarding these proxies whatsoever. I have avoided any US proxies for obvious reasons. If you wish please do an IP check first if you want with someone such as Arin or GeoBytes. If you find a proxy does not work or is slow or is of questionable origin then please post here.

Only use these if you intend to Step Up Your Sharing please.
You must check these proxies from time to time as they may stop working.
Some proxies may decrease your speeds, and some are slower than others.
Applications like KazaaSuperNodes or KaNAT may no longer work while using these.

Also, Special Thanks to Mr. Blunt.
Any Questions Or Comments Are Welcome As Well.
Here is the List which I will try to update from time to time...

Socks5 proxies have to be the most unreliable thing ever invented...besides, most of them are set up for hackers to use for about a day, then they dissapear. Great in theory, but it never works, and when it does, you usually get about 20 kB's tops, on any connection.

This is for the "Paranoid" at large...
Mostly those in the US that are worried.

As for speeds, I've gotten as high as 75KB/s.
Although the average is about 20KB/s it seems.

The SOCKS5 protocol is crap; it's outdated and it's very vulnerable to spam, for usage of HTTP Proxies with KaZaA++ use a program called Socks2HTTP. Unfortunately, it's not freeware, I'm still trying to find a hash for it.

They work. Earthstation Five has been using this system for months (well they use more security). Sure some proxies wont last long, but thats better than no proxy.

I have a couple of questions about using a proxy with Kazza Lite.

    1. Is there a difference between a plain proxy and an anonymous one?

    2. Can using a proxy completely protect you from the RIAA or anyone else getting your Ip on Kazza?

    3. Is there any way that the RIAA can tell if your using a proxy, and using it could it draw more attention to you?

And last question, should I change proxies everyday?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for any help.

I can answer the 2nd and last question. Yes this protects you from the RIAA from seeing your IP. No you dont have to change your proxy each day, only if the proxy goes down.
