You're other points are well made. However why should women then be allowed to enter men's competitions. That seems a bit like eating your cake and having it. Maybe women wouldn't win, but they would be above at least some of the men. How is that fair on them. Particularly since lower down the field they more need the prize money just to live their life. That seems a bit unfair.
The reason this is becoming an issue at all is that women in lots of sports are now starting to come into qualifying range in the men's competition. It's tough if you don't like it, it just is. I'm not suggesting anyone give women an easier ride so that they can compete with men, I'm saying that if they fill an advanced criteria why should what's between their legs stop them? The same issue is coming to the fore regarding disabled athletes.
As to your concern about fairness for men, exactly the same happens in boxing. Boxers don't achieve a heavyweight title and then think 'right, what's next....I'll lose some weight and try for the middle weight title' do they?
