  1. #1
why can't we not access external hard drive in windows 2003 server

I have 80GB external hard drive when i insert it in windows 2003 server R2, it detects hard drive, but in my computer - the drive doesn't display, but in disk management it shows.

is this a new external drive? You might have to either assign it a drive letter or format the drive.

Drive also might not be initialized in disk management

its not a new external hard drive, i have data's which i need to backup in the server, but in normal system it detects & works fine. i am not sure about the drive is initialized in disk management or not, but it shows the size of the external hard drive & the partition of the drive in the disk management
