    Why yes, yes it is.
Well I meant I wish I had that sort of time. I taught my brother about engines when he bought a '77 Monte Carlo with a 350 small block and we rebuilt the entire thing in my cousins garage. Took around 6 months but it was cool. I SOOO appreciate this kind of thing and think it's alost art. On my car a 2001 Dodge Durango I can barely change the spark plugs without removing 100 plastic pieces

    Ah.
I know nothing about American engines (pushrods, really?) but I am a fabrication fool and am having a blast on this car.
We'll see how it turns out.

American engines fucking rock!!!! Well pre 1980 I'd say even some later ones but not many at all.

Well this one has been kicking our ass.
Especially the cooling system- a "reverse flow", double acting thermostat setup that was such a great idea that Chevy dropped it in '97.
Took a while but I think I finally understand it and with the parts coming in this week, I hope we'll be done with it.
    I hope.

    Update:

Ok so thanks to Clockers ongoing generosity I now have the Swiftech MCW60 universal GPU cooler. Thanks again man I owe you.

I decided to get the Swiftech GTX200 heatsink as shown here

Now it looks really cool especially the backplate part which seems like it's included by looking at the pics but I found out today it does not.

It clearly says "The GTX200 heatsink utilizes the stock solution back-plate and fasteners (spare screws also included) " but I guess I missed it.

When I got my part and thought it was missing as my EVGA GTX 260 doesn't have a backplate Some searches on Google and the EVGA forums showed me that the 65nm older models did in fact have them but on the newer 55nm models they DO NOT! So needless to say I was pissed. I dont think that its really needed but from reading over on overclockers forums they say its about a 10 degree difference using the backplate so now I MUST have one.

Again I was astonished by their customer service, What a great damn site!. Within an hour they replied back and PPCs had promptly contacted a Swiftech Rep and we are awaiting his reply.

It's such a relief to know that truely exceptional customer service still exists in this day and age. Thanks to Hank the Ppcs guy as he sure did go above and beyond the seemingly standard "You have to contact the manufacturer" response. Things like this renew my faith in the system.

Do you guys have any suggestions on where I could possibly get one? I have read a backplate will fir on the 55nm models from a 65nm card leaving one screw out. I would buy someones old broken one but EVGA has a lifetime warrenty so I doubt I could find one. Anyone have any other ideas at all?? I guess I could try my hand at making one as it seems pretty straight forward, Yes/No??

I don't understand what the backplate does...is it cooling anything or just allowing for a better block mount?

A 10 degree difference is pretty substantial...

The backplate is supposed to help support the weight of the card and pull heat from the backside. I believe there are thermal pads between it and the card.

Why not try running without it and see what happens.
You could always add it later without breaking the loop.

Dude that is honestly the best damn idea. I guess I wasn't thinking that simply. Well I did manage to get the stock cooler off without a hitch and then I try to fit the sink on the card and it doesn't FU@KING FIT!!!! Damn this sucks balls. On the swiftech site it claims its for this card but no. Here are the problems. Pardon the pics I took them with my cell phone I didn't have my camera handy.

    The overall view

Well this blows bigtime. Back to the drawing bored I guess. Anyone have any suggestions for cooling the ram and other parts that were cooled by the stock cooler??
