I tend to find that "haha, keep trying to hack me you fuckers" only encourages them, whoever "they" might be.
On the other hand, and attitude of willingness to accept people pointing out security holes encourages them to work with you rather than against you. Unless of course it's someone you've already pissed off.

why not spend the time and effort trying to figure out how they did and trying to fix it so they cant use the same methods to hack the site again?
