I have been trying to set up an ftp serv with the guide on this site

    https://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-gui...ver-ssl-276623

This one, Everything goes fine untill I get to a cuteFTP part where im suppose to enter the username and password.. After that you are suppose to see the server in the right window.. but in my case it fails and gives me an error.

I also tried setting it to port 21 which was the same problem, are these ports blocked or anything? I'm using leaseweb and it's the first time I've tried this other than the ftp I setup at home which isn't nearly as sophistcated as this one.

    1) what OS are you using on your seedbox
    2) what ftp server are you using
    3) dont use cuteFTP; use 3d-ftp (http://www.3dftp.com/3dftp.htm)

I followed the recommended guide in one of the sticky's in this section to how to safely transfer files from the box to my own machine.

I'm using Windows Server 2003 with Filezilla ftp Server... I'll check out 3D-Ftp but what might cause it to fail to use port 990?

Install Cerberus FTP Server, will automatically adjust.
Port must be greater than 21 eg 545

I would think there is something which is using that port. maybe a ghost of the same process.

so just change the port to something else and try.
