A lot of HDTV looks worse than DVD because of the poor bitrates, but BD/HD-DVD and encodes from them is so much better.

yeah, but the problem is that even on some blurays edges are cut off.. so picture becomes 16:9 instead of 2.35:1 or such

If they come from a disc it could be the aspect ratio
of the movie itself not that they crop it

some movies are 16:9
some are 1.85:1
some are 2.39:1

Its not always the group that make them like that

Pretty much, don't download scene HD releases, their standards are way too low.

huh, Ive never seen a 25GB+ scene release. I must have missed a lot.

I don't like to download HD movies because the files are just too damn big to sacrifice so much drive space just for better quality.

In my case that's not true, since I don't have, um... a "steady source of income". But it's not because I'm too lazy/stupid to have a job. It's because I can't have a job yet

Perhaps I'll look into HD again when I can afford to buy a lot of hard drives. But, until then, I think that they're a waste of space
