Built a new Media Server to act as a file server for my HTPC and in the near
future another htpc in my bedroom and one in the kids tv room

This is the complete list of components got them all in

NORCO RPC-450 4U Rackmount Server Case

    COOLMAX RM-750B 750W PSU

BIOSTAR TPower N750 AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

    AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 45W Dual-Core Processor

    A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

    Lite-ON DVD Burner

    Got 4 750's and 3 500's for now
Got 1 WD Raptor 36gb 10k rpm hdd for the OS

    for a total of
    36GB for OS and programs
    4.5TB for Media

Windows xp pro for the OS
MediaPortal is the frontend for media

I installed the OS hdd in a 5.25 slot which has no fans so I
added a small chipset fan and a fan controller just to get air moving
through there, not like it matters adding a little fan like this
when the case already has 1 120mm and 2 80mm fans plus
the cpu and psu fans going

Didn't clean up the cables to much for now since the raid cards use sas
fan out cables so these are just here for now

I got 2 of these should be here next week
Ciprico RC5252-08 8-port sata raid card
    http://www.ciprico.com/Products/RaidCore.cfm

Gonna do raid 5 when the cards come in

Using a 4 port raid card I had for now to get the system up and running
until the new raid cards come in

    here are some pics

Looking good man. Those sure are some long SATA cables bro. How would you rate the quality of the Norco case. I have read mixed reviews about them as a whole. Just one question and it means nothing really but why did you put the HDD

Again who really cared I just noticed and was wondering?

Ya the cables are long but as I said those are temp cables until the raid cards
come in with the sas fan out cables

I wanted the hdd there because that way I know for sure which one is the OS hdd
and want the other slots open for more hdd's, plus it gets a little hotter than the rest
so didnt want it smashed inbetween 2 other drives

The case I;ll tell you for the price this case is awesome, only cons I have are
no hot swap bays, but I dont need them so not really a con for me but in gereral
the front 120mm fans are loud, will replace them with some Silenx ones
Wish it came with rack rails but none of the norco cases do, I would recommend
this case to anyone who dosent have money to burn but still wants a good
    server case

Hey man sounds good. 2 recommendations, you could always label that drive so theres never a question. I labeled one of mine with my wife's brother labeler so maybe you have one or access to one that's an idea. Also BY FAR the quietest fans with the best air flow I have come across yet are the Scythe S-flex fans. The bearing is made by Sony and is called fluid dynamic can barely hear them at all. Good luck and please keep us updated. Thanks man
