KVCD is a modification to the standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 GOP structure and Quantization Matrix. It enables you to create over 120 minutes of near DVD quality video, depending on your material, on a single 80 minute CD-R/CD-RW. We have published these specifications as KVCDx3, our official resolution, which produce 528x480 (NTSC) and 528x576 (PAL) MPEG-1 variable bit rate video, from 64Kbps to 3,000Kbps. Using a resolution of 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL), it's possible to encode video up to ~360 minutes of near VCD quality on a single 80 minute CD-R. The mpeg files created will play back in most modern standalone DVD players. You must burn the mpeg files as non-standard VCD with Nero or VCDEasy.

There quite easy to make by yourself, can be a bit time consuming though.
There are plenty of guides at www.kvcd.net.
360 minutes? thats crazy, i gotta figure this out.
signature removed, check the boardrules.
So the quality of this is like SVCD or VCD not like DiVX?

TMPGEnc is what I use to convert to kvcd, you need the TMPGEnc templates for kvcd.Originally posted by mogadishu@5 September 2003 - 01:04

I'd say the quality is just as good as vcd, obviously it depends on the quality of the source file. The most I have tried to fit on one cd is about 130 minutes.
I also use virtualdub to extract the audio.

You also need something to convert the wav to mp3. I use headac3he-0.23a.

Make sure to get all the .dll's for it.
The hardest part of making them is messing around with the CQ on TMPGEnc , to try and get the best quality and keep it to one disk. It just takes a bit of trial and error.
eww.. this looks so complicated, ill wait for other people to do it lol and download it on irc.
