We have recently compared Kazaa Lite 2.1.0 K++ Edition with Kazaa Media Desktop 2.1. First we installed Kazaa Lite and directly after that Kazaa Media Desktop. This means that it was possible to switch back and forth between Kazaa Lite and Kazaa Media Desktop. Below we present the most important differences.

Installation of Kazaa Lite K++ is trivial. During the installation you get the option to install some extra very useful tools: Speed Up, Sig2Dat, Dat View and AVI Preview. Installation of Kazaa Media Desktop is also trivial. However, during the installation you must also agree to install advertising software.

Starting up Kazaa Lite K++ bring you to a simple web page containing some very useful links. There is no advertising and no extra free entertainment. Participation Level can be set at a constant level of 1000 (Supreme Being). This is done using the K++ loader included in the latest version of Kazaa Lite K++ edition. If you do not like to cheat you can switch off that function.

Starting up Kazaa Media Desktop (KMD) bring you to a portal full of colourful and moving advertising. In the latest version 2.1 of KMD advertising is everywhere. KMD also contains free entertainment for example: Special Kazaa Channels with Audio, Games, Software and Video. The problem is that the advertising and the free entertainment distract you from finding and downloading the audio, video or software you want. Some of the advertising is actually very irritating. You start with a participation level of 100 (medium). Interestingly in our case, KMD inherited a fix participation level of 1000 from Kazaa Lite after the first time KMD was run.

Searching using Kazaa Lite K++ and KMD is very similar. However, there is one important difference. Kazaa Lite K++ allows you to automatically (Autosearchmore) or manually ”Search more” unlimited times. Unlimited ”Search more” is extremely useful and may drastically increase the download speed. Searching using KMD is limited to manually ”Search more” only once.

As a conclusion, Kazaa Lite K++ is superior to Kazaa Media Desktop in all respects.
