Was just wondering if anyone know where the tradition of putting silver in a new baby's hand comes from?
My neighbour said it's an old Irish tradition but I can't seem to find anything online regarding it. Anyone have a clue?

Apparently it's an old Jewish tradition. Something to do with trading the baby for money to acknowledge a gift from God has been received
