Getting people to convert would take a lot of time and effort and even then there's no certainty of success.
Wouldn't it just be easier to just kill everyone?

I suggest starting with children and the elderly because they're usually the most defenseless and so make the easiest targets.
After you get the hang of it you could move on to pacifists and women and work you're way up to unarmed people who are looking the other way.
