na not just u but everyone, but i do find it a bit purplexing that u think his post is a utter win.

i mean win, as in i think its win that he came out, told people his story, did it in a good way and has taught people a lesson from it.

If you were affected by his decision to "write" his little "story" you wouldnt think it was so great. Coming out and saying "Im sorry" doesnt necessarily mean it will be excepted (which im not sure if the OP wants or not).

Truth is, its jackasses like this (the OP) that ruin it for others who are trying to get invites. (for all I know u ARE the OP :-P )

Edit: the lesson which can be learned from this is not: trade Vs Nice guy. IMO it is dont trust someone you dont know on the interwebz, which i personally already knew (there was a similar thing happened a while back).

Again, I don't want sympathy. He was a nice guy to me, very helpful, and advised me to be patient, but I wasn't. So I apologized here.

This thread was not started with any ulterior motives. I don't want any invites anywhere or to get my accounts back. I don't want sympathy or respect or forgiveness. I just realized this morning I'm wasting my time trading for site I don't even use, because I was trying to see how it would work as a trader, rather than a nice guy. I realized I just wanted to give it all up, apologize and tell my story, then move on. Simple.

I kind of see where you are coming from, but we are only taking his word for it that he has changed his way, also i think his message is teaching people to be fake and kiss everyones backsides to get what u want. Also he is teaching people there is no real consequence of trading and screwing people over, since he says he still has some of the top trackers, and finaly he is teaching if u get caught trading here and u rep goes down dont worry about it because u can always come back with another account.

Good post... Super honest and I appreciate it! I talked to you through PM a few times, and you even helped me out for no reason with an amazing tracker that I didn't even request. You totally proved to me that you were a nice/funny guy that you stated you are in this post. Patience is a virtue in the torrenting world, I know this because I have been doing it for 4 years (filesharing for 9) and still am not a member of a few places that I would like. I have gotten in because of real life friends, and friends made on forums. All I've seen is that trading is a dead end and that waiting around with a dash of luck on the side is your only chance. Being honest is valued around here too, but I'll make sure not to give into the same thing!

Hope all is well man, I appreciated you around regardless. I didn't know any of this, but at least from my experience.

This is precisely why I posted this. So people will see the difference between the right way and the wrong way.

It was a bit spur of the moment and I jotted down the first post in under 5 minutes after having the inspiration to do so, so I didn't really think it through that well.

What I mean to do is basically say, in short, I was able to get into all these exclusive sites by being myself. Then I realized that collecting these things was silly, since most of them weren't that great or that different at least. Yet I had still never gotten the one invite I sought. So I traded, using a dupe account to cover my reputation.

A little after that, my wife and I had a fight about how frequently I "blogged" here at FST and how much time I spent on torrenting. So I vowed to ease up.

But I've still got my collection of unused accounts, I want them gone, and I feel bad, as though I'm dumping fine scotch down the drain, when another may desire it. So I posted a thread doing a giveaway. Shortly after that, Skizo saw that was a dupe account and banned it, then disabled privileges of "dunson". I then tried to create new accounts, to come back and make up for my misdeeds. All were banned quickly by Skizo's skillful dupe ip checking, i.e. he smelled the rat.

I then had the idea to return as a trader, to see whether it would be more difficult to get into some of those sites, but in the end, I didn't want them, so I just gave away most of those accounts, or asked for them to be disabled. I traded three, but mainly to people I would have given it to, had it not come up in the context of a trade offer. I didn't use anything I got in return. I did it for I don't know, just some sort of shame at how I had spent time collecting all these trackers.

After seeing the benefits of usenet, I started switching to that, and used FTN much less than I had been for months. I decided to try and help people here and I was using this account, when suddenly I wanted to check out some of the torrent sites, TL & Pedros specifically. So I set up trades for them, rather than try and get it for free. I got them both easily, but I have hardly used Pedros and never touched TL, because wait times & ads suck.

I realized today, while thinking of seeking SCT again, just for the sake of doing something over breakfast, that I was being an idiot. I had felt bad for some time for giving away and trading accounts that these nice people had invited me to, but pride and foolishness kept me from making things right before today.

This story unfolded over a year. A year ago, 1/24/08, I had just joined FST. At that time I used Bitsoup, but was unhappy with the size and security and the lack of house & trance. I wanted other places, and sought out info on google, uncovering this site. I was as nice as can be, sought info on seedboxes and all that. Then I wanted to find some sites, so I found TheDVDClub....and on and on as I've said above. But a little over a year ago, I came to FST seeking music for my wife and TT was supposed to be the best. It took me months of building up good will and reputation to then have to trade for it with another member that would appear just as nice as I was. Many of the good members here have pmed me in response to trade offers its alarming.

And now, I will exit stage right and leave my carcass for the dogs who take this all too seriously. But first, I'd like to apologize to those I've wronged, thank those who've helped me and urge those who are new to follow this advice:

Find a good tracker that meets your basic wants and just use it, download, say thank you, seed, post in the forums. And if you can afford a seedbox, don't, just donate to the tracker. (That server is more important than your seedbox.) If you have diverse interests, here is a good place to research trackers that might benefit you, and obtain invites to them through giveaways and requests. Always remember to return the favor. And above all, always remember that you'd be just fine with much less than what you could get your hands on.
