Think about New York Yankees probably up there as being one of the top valued clubs in the world, soccer teams like Manchester United are worth more then them and in fact probably more then any american team in any sport. So to answer your question yes lol there is a lot of money in soccer, i mean just a few weeks ago a soccer team made £100 mil plus bid for a player, a few months ago that would of been close to $200mil.

Also over here it not a matter about money, its like an olympic ,athlete once they have been found 100% guilty thats it. If they want to they could take it to court but in the EU drug cheats in sports are very much looked down on and it really would not be worth their time.

But if i was perfectly honest ill never get the reasons why barry bonds was not done earlier for drugs, maybe if i was a US citizen i might get it.

So is it like this for all ur sports???
    To an extent, yes.

It's one of the reasons unions are not universally admired.

It's one of the reasons professional sports in America are not universally admired.

We can't manage to get rid of the assholes.

    BTW-

Beckham is/was here; I haven't formed a solid opinion of him, but I would say his Missus is an asshole.

    Again, that's just an opinion.

You're also talking about MLB enforcing it's own rule. It's much better for the sport if they let the home run king continue to hit dingers down main street than it is to bench him.

    Agreed.

    A-Rod, also it seems.

I don't understand how this comes out so late. Did Bonds even know he tested positive?

If he did, why lie? It seems moronic.

Also, how would lawyers and unions mess over a positive test that MLB knew about?

Keeping something sealed for the court is one thing but it's also about suspending a player that broke rules.

If consequences of breaking the rules weren't brought to bare, isn't MLB liable for something? (of course not perjury)

If I'm not mistaken, all of those tests back then were supposed to be anonymous. I won't put myself out on a limb as far as Bonds goes, But in Rodriguez's case for sure.

As far as I remember, all of the results were to be "confidential"; for what reasonable purpose, consult the players union and the owners, both of whom have a stake in maintaining this confidentiality - I don't remember what prompted all of it, but Jose Canseco's book seemed to get the ball rolling, then the appearance before congress of Canseco, McGwire, Sosa, Schilling, et. al., the Mitchell report, etc., and the lid came off.

Then Clemens (prick), etc., and here we are.

There's a good chance Bonds will skate on it, and may even have a counter-suit for violation of privacy.

    Unbelievable.

I'd like congress to haul the union and owners before them (as long as they feel they have entree) for a short discussion about this need for confidential testing.

What I'd like to see even more are fans willing to boycott a corrupt sport.

    Never happen, though.

Lawyers are a pan-ideological affliction, as well you know, and if you call me a socialist again, I'll bloody well sue.

So what happens now if it actually comes out with evidence that Mr Bonds is a drugs cheat, do they take his records away?? Like an Olympic athlete would have their medal taken away. Or will it be for this reason that MLB will cover this up all the way, to save the embarrassment of having a cheat as the greatest.
