due to a problem with their domain registration company, t.ru is now being redirected to rutracker.org, news on the main page suggests for users to change their announce strings in torrents or redownload them and to logon to a new domain. they have no idea at the moment if problems with t.ru name will be resolved..

ps if domain has been suspended, how did they managed to do a redirect?

DNS caching. It takes some time to stop working completely.

Not a big deal. Domain name is replaced all over the site (even in posts).

Thanks for the tip-off. Torrents.ru is one of the sites that load along Opera when I turn my PC on, but I hadn't noticed the new name until now. I guess the old one will live on in their logo

there's a lot of noobs at the site who don't know anything about torrenting but where to press a key to watch a movie couple of hours later, so there will be definitely a one-time blow to peer quantity and if serious hunt has been started after t.ru, it can end up badly like it was for interfilm

one of the workarounds is patching hosts file:

    195.82.146.50 ns.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.52 pm.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.114 torrents.ru
    195.82.146.115 post.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.116 static.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.120 bt.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.121 bt2.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.122 bt3.torrents.ru
    195.82.146.123 bt4.torrents.ru

Or use an alternative DNS service like OpenDNS - they got a hold of the new IPs already

Too often, we loose sight of life's simple pleasures.Remember, when someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and bitch-slap that mother!%$@%# upside the head!
