alright well i just downloaded XP Pro and being as lucky as i am i got a serial number that works with SP1 first try. the thing is when i upgraded i kept the old FAT32 file system instead of switching to NTFS. i read that NTFS is better but some old programs might not run on it so here;s my question...

should i switch from FAT32 to NTFS? i'd probably reformat my computer so i don't run into any problems and it'll work the way it's supposed to (not the way i got everything to work right.)

anyway, answer quick cause i'm getting sleepy and i'll forget about this by tomorrow.

you could keep the fat32 but some features in windows such as permission rights or data compression, or file encryption wont work

using fat32 dont affect programs though

I always use NTFS for NT products, like win2k and win XP since that's what it's for, It's much more stable in my experience (but that might just be 'cause earlier os:S sucked a bit more in general).

fat32 as it keeos the track dates of all my mp3's so they load in order and my linux os can use them.

apart from that ntfs is the way to go.
