I got DSL (640/128) and that's 80 max and one time it sprung up to 300kB/s until the data caught up but on kazaa I get around 90-100

Its best to not feel bad just because you have 56K (like me ) the limits of technology have streched to allwo a TCP connection of 9.6 GB/s.
My highest download speed was above 90-100 Kb/S.. It really depends on the connection you have.. My connection can maxmimally reach 90-100 kb/s.. Some of my friends often have more than 160 kb/s.. They've the double speed of my connection..
But in the last time the speed has dropped a bit.. I don't know why..may be because there are less sources and some people left kazaa (f_ckers !!!
fastest for me was 350k/sec from 16 sources.. wish i had a screenshot to prove it. Girls gone wild downloaded in 20 minutes (around 500mb file )
