i dont care about the damn warrenty

the data on there is like 50GB and it's much to burn on cds

and maxtor says they dont care if your data loses if their hardware fails so what's up with that?

companies these days should be more sensitive to people's data as they are as valuable as money!!!!!

In that case, the solution is obvious. Simply go out and buy another identical drive, copy the data from the 'faulty' one to the new one, and throw the 'faulty' one away.

haha i'll just have to trust it i think

I am extremely careful when it comes to hdds. I've used hdds from at least years ago (the old 12.5Gb) and it's still functional, as well as in my older computers (2Gb) and 4Gb, I've never had a hdd of my own actually fails

but the hdd they make nowadays are huge , 80Gb is nothing, there is the 120Gb and the 160Gb, and is inconvene to backup unless you have dvd burner, and for ordinary ppl like us it's another investment.

I have said this before and I will say it again.

It's not a matter if a harddrive will fail but when. All mechanical devices fail sooner of later.

That's why they keep telling us to have backups.

Hardware companies can't be held responsable for lost software.
