    Hi.
In searching for free sites to upload images for sigs & avatars, I've been pointed in the direction of
    >http://www.daikatan.org/

which are all good, but I also wanted to upload other types of reasonably sized files such as .pdf or .torrent.

The FileHeaven crew gave me a link to their webspace: http://members.lycos.co.uk/pleasedow...want/index.php

Here, you're able to upload pretty much anything up to a certain size, but it hasn't been reliable.

Can someone recommend another site to try for what I've just mentioned? I'd do the googling myself, except I'm not sure how to label my search; everything comes back something to the effect of "get free hosting for your website". Just looking for free space to upload small files...

    Cheers.

This is where ISP webspace comes in handy, or setting up your own server.

Pacbell doesn't offer a webspace with your plan? I couldn't check it for you, you need to login to see what your plan offers.

Its the best. When you add a image somewhere you have to add &ect=.jpg or &ect=.gif or &ect=.png

    Thanks guys!

Yeah balamm, I've always wondered what SBC has for me -- I'll look into that as well. (Do I call tech support? Just hunt around my.yahoo.com?)

Go to the SBC website. There is probably a My Account link that will give you the details. I have Verizon, which includes 10 MB of webspace. Its not alot but good for hosting images and the occasional screen shot.

    Ok -- I'll have a look.

An update on my free-host.com account:

I signed up, uploaded a 434kb pdf file, it was successful, it created a link, and when I click on the link, it leads to a blank page or "The page cannot be found" page every time. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, their customer support address leads to
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

          [email protected]
    which isn't too reassuring.
