    The speed that show the program is the same. But encryption does slower process. You can find out by posting a file with not ssl connection and then comparing it to the SSL connection.

    Remember that you still have to worry about port based traffic shaping if you are using port563(the standard for NNTPS, encrypted usenet). Alternate ports are offered most of the time.

    Yes, I use 443 port for uploading.
