I think you may have misread that at Uploadit.

It says "now". From you post it looks as if you saw it a "not"

if u remove the text below the image in ur sig u will be with the rules, the whole sig includign any text has to fit into 495x150 i think

The total file size for all images contained in a signature may not excede 100,000 bytes. Signatures that do not comply may be removed or edited by a moderator or administator.

This is the permited area that your whole signature including text must fit into.
