well that took me by surprise.

snee or someone foreign might know some good proxies to pretend to be in the UK, like.

As long as I've got a face

never needed to pretend I was from the UK.

Hotspot shield works well for pretending to be a merkin*, bettar than a proxy. Dunno if there's something simliar for engerland.

*Might not last for long, seeing as some nub wrote an article about it in the paper so that all the other nubs will ewese it, making the copyright fags cry since you can ewese it with hulu without being a merkin

It's a free and very simple vpn kind of deal solution. You can pay and get more bandwidth as well, there's a monthly cap on the free version. Enough to watch a bunch of telly shows, though.

You install a small app. When running it, you run a secure-ish connection to a merkin server. Stuff you navigate to thinks you're in the US. Bit like using a proxy, but less transparent. Works with stuff proxies don't.

If you want a proper vpn, though, with good encryption and so forth hotspot shield is a bit lacking.

I use it to watch stuff on hulu.com, among other things.

So does it just run in the background and you just log in as usual using your browser. And also does it work with firefox.

Yes, it's a running service. It's not dependent on your browser at all.

Easy to turn on and shut down. Systray icon for it, so you see it's running.

I've read some vpns can be troublesome if you're behind the wrong router, but it's worked fine for me when I used it.
